During 1 vacation we had gone to Mangalore…visiting various temples… Udupi,
Dharmasthala etc… The children got bored [and me too]…. So we enquired around and came to know of a beach in the vicinity called Murudeshwar….
We had to travel in a crowded bus on the hot and sultry afternoon for nearly 2 ½ hrs…when suddenly the bus broke down…had to walk with the luggage for 10 mts before getting an auto…
After reaching the hotel we came to know that there were no rooms available… but the people at the reception took pity on us and told us to leave the luggage with them, go to the beach and come back, they could arrange a room for us by night…so with long faces we went ahead and turned a corner and O MY GOD!!!!!!

The sea was a brilliant aquamarine, laced with light green froth and the sand made a glittering white border… We wondered if we were in India or the Bahamas….the greatest thing was we had the beach to ourselves… Just like the froth that did not stop at the sea but continued on to the sand the ‘crowning glory’ moment too continued all through the time we were in the sea. Till the beach became crowded with people, till a beautiful moon came out of the sky,
After a good bath in the hotel room we came out to explore the other side and found a mammoth statue of Lord Shiva [Murudeshwar]…. [For 1 moment it made me wonder if it really was the God striding in from the sea]…
As a great end to a great day, had excellent Mysore masala dosa in the hotels’ restaurant built plumb on the sea… fanned by the sea breeze with the occasional sprinkle of sea water…
